Job summary

Stanford Health Care is seeking an Evening - 08 Hour Laboratory Support role in Palo Alto. The position focuses on processing specimens, attaching data into the laboratory information system, and preparing materials for testing.

You will support pre-analytic workflows, maintain equipment temperature logs, and assist in development and training projects. The role emphasizes strict adherence to safety and regulatory standards, meticulous documentation, and effective communication with supervisors

Responsibilities

• Accessions patient information into Laboratory information system(s).
• Consults with Supervisor or Technologist if request is problematic.
• Notifies physician, nursing unit, clinic, etc. if sample received is inappropriate or compromised.
• According to procedure prepares specimens and maintains pure viable stock cultures for testing and quality control.
• Adheres to all Safety/Health regulatory and state/federal legal requirements and policies.
• Assists in routine and preventive maintenance for instruments.
• Inventories and orders supplies and records laboratory transactions.
• Monitors temperatures of incubators and equipment readings.
• Organizes, catalogs and stores patient specimen samples.
• Performs clerical functions and data entry.
• Processes specimens including DNA and RNA extraction.
• Receives and processes specimens following proper procedures.
• Assists pathologist with frozen sections (Pathology).
