Job summary

Germanna Community College is seeking a part-time Evening Support Technician to provide timely IT support at Stafford County Center and Fredericksburg Area Campus. The role focuses on network and system support for computers, AV gear, mobile devices, and related equipment to boost productivity across the college.

The position requires CompTIA A+ or equivalent experience, strong customer service, and the ability to work evenings, with occasional weekend events.

Qualifications

• Experience in customer service, preferably Helpdesk.
• CompTIA A+ Certification or equivalent PC hardware experience.
• Knowledge of software licensing, installation, and maintenance.
• Knowledge of basic network functionality and infrastructure.
• Troubleshooting experience with audio-visual systems.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs.
• Willingness to learn AI tools.

Responsibilities

• Responds promptly and courteously to faculty and staff tickets regarding computer and AV problems.
• Install and support computer workstations and peripherals; perform maintenance and patching; image and troubleshoot within SOPs.
• Prioritize and close helpdesk tickets for AV, computer, and network incidents.
• Provide tech support for evening and weekend events; schedule may require at location changes.
• Install and support audio-visual equipment; perform regular maintenance.
• Train staff in usage of computer and AV systems; keep training documents current.
• Maintain accurate inventory in asset management systems.
