Job summary

Germanna Community College is seeking a part-time Evening Support Technician to assist the Stafford County Center and Fredericksburg Area Campus. The role provides timely network and system support for computers, AV equipment, and related devices to boost productivity and support Germanna’s mission.

Key duties include responding to tickets, deploying workstations, supporting events, training staff, and maintaining inventory. Requires evening/weekend flexibility and the ability to lift 50 lbs.

Qualifications

• Experience in customer service or helpdesk.
• CompTIA A+ certification or equivalent hardware knowledge.
• Knowledge of software licensing, installation and maintenance.
• Basic network functionality and infrastructure knowledge.
• Experience with audio-visual systems.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Detail-oriented and able to work independently.
• Experience with or willing to learn AI tools.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Respond to faculty and staff tickets regarding computer and AV issues.
• Install and support computer workstations and peripherals; patch and maintain.
• Prioritize and close helpdesk tickets for AV, computer, and network incidents.
• Provide tech support for evening and weekend events per SLAs.
• Install and maintain AV equipment; ensure timely repairs.
• Train staff on computer and AV system usage; keep training docs current.
• Maintain accurate inventory in asset management systems.
