Job summary

Carolinas Medical Center is hiring for a part-time Food Service Associate in the Food and Nutrition department. The role involves assembling patient meal trays, delivering trays to patient rooms, and supporting cafeteria operations while ensuring adherence to diet guidelines and sanitation standards.

The position requires evening shifts with potential early mornings, approximately 28 hours per week, and a pay range of $18.85–$28.30 per hour. No formal education required, experience not mandatory.

Qualifications

• Basic knowledge in hospital food service or related environment.
• Ability to read and understand written and oral communications.
• Good communication and customer service skills to interact with internal and external customers.
• Intermediate computer skills in Microsoft Office or similar products.

Responsibilities

• Assemble patient and mobile meal trays in accordance with diet guidelines and productivity standards.
• Load and transport food carts; deliver trays to patient rooms following procedures.
• Operate cash register and handle cash, if needed, and complete daily reports.
• Perform cleaning using sanitation procedures in kitchen and cafeteria.
• Assist with catering events and special promotions, including setup and decoration.
• Prepare snacks, beverages, sandwiches and other patient foods following recipes and portion guidelines.
• Stock and replenish supplies in retail and kitchen areas; manage presentation of meals.
