Advocate Health is hiring a Histology Technician at the IL ACL Laboratories – IL Central Lab: Histology in Rosemont, IL. This full-time, second-shift role runs 3:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m., and supports specimen accessioning, tissue processing, staining, and slide distribution under supervision.

The position requires advanced science training; no prior experience is required. Candidates must be detail oriented, able to handle sharp instruments, and follow safety procedures.

Qualifications

• Advanced training beyond high school in a science-related field.
• No experience required.
• License/Registration/Certification: None Required.

Responsibilities

• Accession specimens, label correctly, ensure suitability for testing.
• Embed tissue into paraffin blocks; manage paraffin blocks, slides, and tissue.
• Process tissue to preserve and infiltrate with paraffin.
• Perform stains, immunohistochemistry, cover slipping, verification, and slide distribution.
• Run and print computer logs; manage daily workflow for recuts and special stains.
• Document quality control and take corrective action under supervision.
