Job summary

Advocate Health seeks a Histology technician for the IL Central Lab: Histology. Full-time, day shift, Tuesday through Saturday, 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., in Rosemont, IL. Pays $25.30–$42.85 per hour with comprehensive benefits. Position requires HT (ASCP BOC) certification and an advanced biology-related program.

No prior experience required; general responsibilities include tissue processing, staining, and collaboration with pathologists and lab staff.

Qualifications

• HT certification (ASCP BOC) required.
• Advanced training beyond high school in biology or related field.
• No experience required.

Responsibilities

• Accession, label, and prepare specimens for testing.
• Cut tissue sections and place on slides.
• Embed tissue in paraffin blocks and manage blocks/slides.
• Perform stains, IHC, cover slipping and slide distribution.
• Manage daily recuts, special stains and controls per protocols.
