Qualifications

• Requires HT (Histotechnician) certification from ASCP BOC.
• Advanced training beyond high school in Biology or related field is required.
• No prior experience necessary; entry level accepted.

Responsibilities

• Accession and label specimens for testing and ensure proper tissue sectioning.
• Embed tissue in paraffin blocks and manage paraffin blocks and slides.
• Process tissue to preserve and infiltrate with paraffin.
• Perform stains, immunohistochemistry, cover slipping, and distribute slides.
• Monitor and document quality control and assist pathologists as needed.
