Job summary

FedEx Freight in Indiana is seeking a dock worker to transport freight across dock areas and load/unload to trailers. You will operate forklift, pallet jack and hand truck, moving freight efficiently and safely.

You must have basic math and communication skills, the ability to lift up to 100 pounds, and work a 1430–2300 shift. You will verify documents, secure freight, assist customers, and help keep operations compliant and efficient.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent, preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Prior warehousing/freight handling and/or forklift experience preferred.
• If hostler/yard mule duties required, experience preferred.
• Ability to count and perform basic math.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to lift/carry freight weighing up to 100 pounds, and open trailer doors requiring up to 75 pounds of lift.
• Ability to bend, twist, squat, push/pull freight throughout shift.
• Ability to work independently and/or as part of a team.
• Previous dock/warehouse experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate forklift, pallet jack and hand truck to move freight.
• Verify freight documents match description and weight.
• Secure freight inside trailers using pallets, straps and rope.
• Recoup/repair damaged freight when necessary.
• Verify and complete required documentation and reports.
• Assist customers with freight and freight documentation as needed.
• Perform hostling duties if required.
• Comply with laws, regulations and company policies.
• Perform other duties as required.
