Job summary

FedEx Freight is seeking a dock worker to transport freight across the loading dock and trailers. Starting Pay is $23.46 per hour with shift time to be determined. The role involves operating forklift, pallet jack and hand truck to move freight, verify paperwork, secure loads, and assist customers as needed.

Applicants should have a high school diploma or equivalent and be at least 18 years old; warehousing or forklift experience is preferred. Related duties and safety compliance are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent, preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Prior warehousing, freight handling or forklift experience preferred.
• If hostler/yard mule duties are required, experience preferred.
• Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to lift/carry hand freight and open trailer doors frequently.

Responsibilities

• Transport freight across dock area to/from trailers for loading to trailers.
• Perform freight handling using forklift, pallet jack and hand truck.
• Verify documentation matches freight description (type, weight, hazmat).
• Secure freight inside trailers with pallets, straps or rope.
• Recoup/repair damaged freight when necessary.
• Complete required documentation and reports.
• Assist customers with freight and freight documentation as needed.
• Perform hostling duties if required.
