Qualifications

• High School graduate with successful completion from a recognized program for phlebotomy or prior phlebotomy experience.
• Basic life support certification within 3 months of employment.
• Maintenance of annual BLS competencies.

Responsibilities

• Collect blood specimens by venipuncture and capillary from patients and perform EKG, pulse oximetry and point-of-care testing as required.
• Perform venipuncture and capillary phlebotomy procedures using appropriate equipment and techniques.
• Review physician orders to ensure appropriate tests are drawn and tests meet Medical Necessity guidelines and obtain signatures as needed.
• Process specimens including centrifugation, labeling and packaging; provide essential patient data for registration.
