Job summary

Avera McKennan Hospital is seeking a Facilities Maintenance Technician to perform inspections, repairs and preventive maintenance of buildings, equipment and vehicles. You will work in the evenings Monday through Friday with occasional weekends and holidays, with a sign-on bonus if eligible and night pay after 7:00pm.

Responsibilities include basic carpentry, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, operating and servicing building systems, and coordinating with vendors to complete work safely and on time.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED; 3–6 months related experience or training or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Valid Driver's License is required

Responsibilities

• Performs building inspections and oversees heating, plumbing, outdoor grounds and snow/ice removal to ensure a safe facility.
• Performs basic carpentry and maintenance including painting, remodeling, plumbing, electrical and HVAC.
• Repairs and maintains machines and equipment (beds, wheelchairs, kitchen equipment, furniture, office equipment).
• Monitors and services systems delivering steam or chilled water to air handling systems and sterilizers.
• Manages work orders, prioritizes tasks, and maintains clean, organized work areas.
• Implements preventive maintenance programs for buildings, grounds, equipment and vehicles.
• Responds to facility emergencies, conducts drills, and follows safety protocols and PPE usage.
• Coordinates with contractors and vendors to ensure timely completion of contracted work.
• Occasionally assists with off-site errands, patient transports, deliveries, or inventory tasks.
