Job summary

Avera St Anthony's Hospital is seeking a Facilities Maintenance Technician to inspect, repair, and maintain buildings, grounds, and equipment. The role includes HVAC, plumbing, carpentry, electrical, and preventative maintenance tasks to ensure a safe campus.

Regular hours with on-call nights, weekends, and holidays. Provides opportunity to work with a multidisciplinary team and contribute to emergency drills and safety initiatives.

Qualifications

• High School or GED or equivalent, 3–6 months related experience or training
• Driver's license required
• Preferred boiler operator certification or licensing board involvement

Responsibilities

• Perform building inspections and maintenance, replace parts, and oversee heating, plumbing, outdoor grounds, and snow/ice removal for a safe facility.
• Carry out basic carpentry, painting, remodeling, plumbing, electrical, and HVAC maintenance of facilities and fixtures.
• Perform routine repair on machines and equipment (beds, wheelchairs, kitchen equipment, furniture, etc.).
• Monitor, inspect, repair, test, and clean equipment and systems delivering steam or chilled water to air handling systems and sterilizers.
• Manage work orders, keep areas organized, and coordinate with contractors and vendors to ensure timely completion.
• Develop and follow preventive maintenance schedules, log servicing, and maintain PM records.
• Respond to facility emergencies, assist with drills, and enforce safety policies and PPE usage.
