Job summary

Maryland Department of Juvenile Services (DJS) seeks a Skilled Trades Specialist IV to ensure uninterrupted operation of the Alfred D. Noyes Children’s Center. Responsibilities include HVAC, plumbing, electrical, painting, carpentry, and grounds maintenance.

The role covers installation, repairs, preventative maintenance, and minor renovations, with duties extending to safety inspections and standard facility operations. Second shift is required: 10:30 a.m.–7:00 p.m.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 5 years of skilled trade experience in plumbing, carpentry, electrical, HVAC, painting or welding.
• State of Maryland driver’s license may be required and professional licenses for trades as applicable.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance and repairs on building systems to ensure facility operation.
• Install, repair and maintain plumbing systems.
• Repair and maintain electrical equipment and fixtures.
• Perform grounds maintenance and snow removal as needed.
• Complete preventive maintenance and safety inspections.
• Maintain records and respond to facility-related emergencies and weather events.
