Job summary

The Maryland Department of Transportation's State Highway Administration in Baltimore is seeking a Skilled Trade Specialist III to maintain the Headquarters Complex facility and grounds, including safety and coordination with contractors. The position demands hands-on skilled trades work across plumbing, carpentry, electrical, HVAC, and related areas.

You will lead the local maintenance team in the absence of the Maintenance Supervisor II, support emergency and routine operations, and ensure

Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
Four years of skilled trades experience in one of the listed areas (plumbing, carpentry, electrical, HVAC, locksmith, masonry, painting, welding).
Selective Qualifications: two years of carpentry in commercial or government settings with ability to read technical drawings.
Two years of hand/power tools experience and knowledge of carpentry techniques, materials, and building codes.
Two years of experience measuring, cutting, installing, and assembling structural components with OSHA safety standards.

Responsibilities

Maintain the Headquarters Complex facility and grounds and coordinate with contractors and SHA divisions.
Lead the maintenance team at the 707/211 Headquarters in the absence of the Maintenance Supervisor II.
Oversee emergency and routine complex duties and ensure safety and compliance.
