Job summary

Albany Medical Center is seeking an Emergency Department Technician for the evening shift. The role supports nurses and physicians, performing tests and procedures for acutely ill patients in a Level One trauma environment.

Responsibilities include CPR, venipuncture, vital signs, ECGs, IV management, wound care, catheter insertions and patient transport. A High School diploma and 6–12 months' ED/EMS experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• 6 months to 1 year of ED Technician or EMS experience preferred.
• Honesty, punctuality and adherence to AMC ethics are essential.
• Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and staff.
• Regularly stand, walk and use hands; occasionally sit/kneel/crouch.

Responsibilities

• Assist with resuscitation and CPR, and emergency airway procedures.
• Perform venipuncture to obtain blood specimens.
• Provide technical support to physicians and nurses in patient care.
• Report patient condition to supervisor/staff.
• Assist with transport of patients to other departments.
• Obtain and document vital signs and monitor systems.
• Capture 12-lead EKGs and manage IV/line care as needed.
• Assist with wound care, Foley catheter insertion, and NG tubes.
• Position patients and apply splints/dressings; help with mobility aids.
