Job summary

Albany Med Health System is seeking an Emergency Department Technician for night shift. You will assist clinicians, perform tests and diagnostic procedures, and support care for acutely ill patients in a Level One trauma center.

You will handle CPR, venipuncture, vital signs, EKGs, IVs, wound care, and patient transport, working with nurses and physicians in a fast-paced environment. High school diploma and 6 months experience preferred; competitive pay and benefits.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 6 months to 1-year ED Technician or EMS experience desired.
• Honest, punctual, and adheres to high ethical standards as defined by AMC.
• Ability to communicate cooperatively with patients, family members, employees and others.
• Regularly required to stand, walk, and perform job functions; may sit, kneel, or crouch occasionally.

Responsibilities

• Assist with resuscitation, CPR and emergency airway procedures.
• Perform venipuncture to obtain blood specimens.
• Assist physicians and nurses by providing technical support for patient care.
• Report patient condition to the appropriate supervisor/staff member.
• Assist with transport of patients to other departments.
• Assist with obtaining and documenting vital signs, cardiac monitoring, and non-invasive monitoring systems.
• Obtain 12-lead EKGs; manage IV lines.
• Assist with wound care, Foley catheter insertions, and nasogastric tubes.
• Assist with positioning patients, applying orthopedic splints and dressings.
• Measure and fit crutches and canes and instruct patients on proper use.
