Emergency Department Technician

Position overview: Sentara Health is seeking to hire a qualified individual to join our team as an Emergency Department Technician on-site in Norfolk, Virginia. Part‑time (24 hours a week), 3rd shift (7:00 PM‑7:00 AM). The role assists physicians, advanced practitioners, or nurses in implementing plans of care for emergency/minor emergency care patients and performs patient procedures and treatments under their supervision.

Training and certification requirements: De‑escalation and physical intervention training within 15 days of hire. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 90 days of hire for all incumbents.

Education & Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• One of the following certifications: EMT‑B with state or national certification at time of hire, successful completion of US Military Hospital Corps School (qualified MMAC candidates), or current student enrolled in a clinical program (e.g., RN, LPN, Respiratory, Physical Therapy) who has completed at least one semester within the program.
• Candidates with prior employment in the Sentara ED tech job code in the past two years will also be considered in lieu of the above criteria.
• Previous clinical experience.
