Job summary

The Arc of Ocean County is seeking dependable, compassionate Direct Support Professional to join our Residential Services team and help adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities live fulfilling, independent lives in welcoming homes throughout Ocean County.

This is a hands-on role where you’ll be part of someone’s everyday life—helping with routines, encouraging personal choice, supporting community involvement, and celebrating progress along the way.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Valid New Jersey driver’s license in good standing with no more than five points.
• Ability to successfully complete all required background checks, screenings, and onboarding requirements.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently while demonstrating professionalism, flexibility, and sound judgment.
• Demonstrate employment stability, including at least one year of longevity with a previous employer.

Responsibilities

• Build respectful, trusting relationships that promote dignity, independence, confidence, and personal choice.
• Encourage participation in daily routines, hobbies, recreational activities, and community events.
• Assist with personal care, meal preparation, medication administration, housekeeping, laundry, and other activities of daily living.
• Remain attentive to individuals’ physical, emotional, and behavioral needs and respond appropriately to changing situations.
• Complete electronic documentation, daily service notes, medication records, and required reports accurately and on time.
