Job summary

Makom in Reston, VA is hiring Direct Support Professionals to provide person-centered support to individuals with IDD, helping them lead self-directed, meaningful lives in their communities. This role focuses on daily living assistance, skill development, community engagement, and safety, with Mon-Fri 3:30pm-11pm schedules.

We seek compassionate teammates with a high school diploma, strong problem-solving and interpersonal skills, and the ability to lift up to 100 pounds with assistance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; further education in human services or a related field is a plus.
• Excellent problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
• Proficiency with Microsoft applications and general computer skills.
• Maintain professionalism and positive relationships with individuals, families, colleagues, and external partners.
• Ability to lift up to 100 pounds with assistance.

Responsibilities

• Provide individualized, person-centered support based on each person’s skills and needs.
• Support skill-building and personal growth per PCP/ISP.
• Facilitate community engagement and social connections.
• Assist with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) and IADLs.
• Ensure safe, clean living and working environments in line with care plans.
• Adapt approaches as individuals’ needs evolve.
