Job summary

Commonwealth Senior Living at Cedar Bluff in Virginia Beach is hiring a Dining Services Associate to assist the Dining Services Director with our signature dining program and to provide friendly, responsive service to residents.

The role involves preparing and serving nutritious meals, maintaining a clean kitchen, and ensuring a safe, respectful dining environment. Full-time benefits include health, life, disability, 401(k), PTO, and more.

Qualifications

• Certification in the Food Handlers Course or equivalent.
• Previous experience in the food service industry.
• Ability to read and write English.
• Willingness and ability to learn new tasks.
• Must be available to work varied shifts and weekends.
• Ability to lift heavy objects; stand and walk short distances; tolerate heat from the kitchen.
• Must be free of communicable diseases.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve nutritious meals to residents in a safe sanitary manner per Public Health Regulations.
• Be familiar with HACCP and WHMIS.
• Maintain a clean, safe working environment with proper hand washing and routine cleaning.
• Serve attractive, nutritious meals in a pleasant, respectful manner mindful of residents' needs.
• Operate and clean kitchen equipment as per schedules.
• Prepare dining rooms daily: set tables, pour beverages, clear and clean dishes.
• Receive stock and store following required procedures.
• Follow cleaning procedures when equipment is unavailable (e.g., power failure).
• Performs other duties as directed by the Dining Services Director.
• Other duties as assigned.
