Job summary

University of Northern Iowa is seeking a custodial worker to support building maintenance under supervision. The role involves cleaning tasks such as trash removal, light maintenance, snow/ice management, and basic repairs, with a 3:00 pm–11:30 pm schedule.

This temporary position is limited to 1040 hours per fiscal year, offering a structured, part-time-like arrangement on a Monday–Friday basis. Background checks apply and full-time benefits are described for eligible non-temporary staff.

Qualifications

• Ability to read, write, and follow directions.
• Prior cleaning experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs custodial duties for general maintenance of buildings.
• Carries out tasks requiring lifting, bending, and carrying; empties trash and recycling; changes light bulbs using a step ladder; shovels snow and spreads ice melt at entrances; reports needed repairs with repair slips; handles cleaning materials requests; locks/unlocks doors; operates cleaning machines.
