Job summary

University of Iowa is seeking a Custodian I to perform custodial work for general maintenance of buildings on campus. The role runs 7:30AM–4:00PM with every other weekend and rotating days off; overtime may be available to cover absences and peak periods.

Responsibilities include cleaning interiors, floors, restrooms, and exterior areas, with ladder work up to 12 feet. Experience with cleaning equipment is expected; ability to lift up to 50 lbs and adapt to temperature and noise variations is

• Ability to read, write and follow directions.

Responsibilities

• Clean all areas of a building.
• Vacuum, shampoo, sweep, mop, strip, scrub, wax, and buff floors.
• Thoroughly clean restrooms with a specialized machine.
• Clean glass surfaces, ceilings and walls; ladder up to 12 feet may be required.
• Replace light bulbs and clean fixtures; ladder as required.
• Make beds and handle linens; refill disposables; disinfect beds/tables.
• Report breakage and needed repairs.
• Move furniture and equipment; deliver supplies.
• Collect trash from inside and outside; empty into designated areas.
• Lock/unlocks doors as required.
