Job summary

Phillips Academy seeks an evening custodian to clean and maintain Academy buildings by performing routine and specialized cleaning of academic and non-academic spaces and maintain a clean, safe, sanitary and attractive environment.

Schedule: Monday through Friday, 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM, with overtime as required. Benefits include medical, dental, life insurance, retirement contributions, and education assistance.

Qualifications

• Valid driver’s license and ability to pass a full background check.
• Ability to work with the school community and perform custodial tasks.
• Flexibility to respond to changing and/or short-notice custodial service requirements.
• Prior floor care and cleaning experience preferred.
• English language proficiency sufficient to carry out duties.

Responsibilities

• Sweep, mop, dust or wash furniture, vacuum floors and restock restroom and kitchen areas.
• Sanitize bathroom surfaces and fixtures; maintain cleanliness of food handling areas.
• Empty trash and recycling receptacles and transport to designated pickup points.
• Strip, wax and burnish floors using power floor machines; operate heavy-duty wet pickup machines to remove liquids from floor surfaces.
