Job summary

Good Samaritan in De Smet, SD is seeking a Nursing Assistant to provide resident-centered care under the supervision of a registered nurse. You will assist with daily living activities, monitor vital signs, help with meals, and support mobility and transfers while following care plans and infection control policies.

You will be part of a compassionate team, participate in wellness programs, and document care interactions.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or GED preferred, but not required.
• Minimum age of 16. Prior clinical or nursing assistant experience in long-term care preferred.
• Required CNA certification with the State Board of Nursing, or state certified CNA within four months of date into the position by being enrolled in a training program or in the process of obtaining certification through Endorsement. CNA training and certification provided by facility.
• Satisfactorily completes yearly department specific competency testing and maintains a record of continuing education credits for each year. A minimum of 12 hours continuing education are required annually.
• When applicable, certified and registered with the Unlicensed Assistive Person (UAP) Registry.
• Dependent on facility and required responsibilities, this role may classify as a Sanford Category II Driver requiring a motor vehicle report and proof of valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Provide resident-centered nursing care to residents under RN supervision.
• Assist with daily living activities, including bathing, toileting, grooming, dressing, and feeding.
• Record and monitor vital signs and report changes.
• Assist with transfers, repositioning, and mobility using proper techniques.
• Follow infection prevention and PPE policies and participate in safety protocols.
• Assist with meals/dining and provide hydration and supplements as appropriate.
• Support wellness/recreational programs and document care interactions.
• May participate in committees and tasks as needed.
