Job summary

Requires CNA certification with the state or in process of obtaining it, with facility-provided training. Prior long-term care experience is preferred and ongoing education is expected as part of the role.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or GED preferred, but not required.
• Minimum age of 16.
• Prior clinical or nursing assistant experience in long-term care preferred.
• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification with the State Board of Nursing, or state certified CNA within four months of date into the position by being enrolled in a training program or in the process of obtaining certification through Endorsement.
• CNA training and certification provided by facility.
• Satisfactorily completes yearly department specific competency testing and maintains a record of continuing education credits for each year.

Responsibilities

• Assists residents with basic health care needs including daily living activities.
• Obtains and records vital signs and provides psychosocial support.
• Assists with transferring, repositioning, and walking using proper techniques.
• Provides range of motion and passive exercises.
• Assists residents with meals and dining, including hydration and supplements as appropriate.
• Documents resident interactions and care-related changes to the charge nurse.
