Job Description:

GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Circulation Desk Assistant is responsible for providing customer service and guidance to library patrons. This position works evening (Tuesdayand Thursday, 3pm-8 pm) and weekend hours (Saturday 9 am - 1pm) during the Fall semester, with the occasional opportunity to work additional shifts as a substitute.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

  • Register patrons in the CLAMS automated library system.
  • Charge and discharge library materials to library patrons, including items on reserve.
  • Assist patrons in the use of the photocopier and answer directional questions.
  • Refer patrons to the Reference Desk.
  • Produce College student ID cards.
  • Shelve library materials.
Requirements:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Thorough knowledge of basic computer applications.
  • Ability to pay strict attention to detail.
  • Unrestricted authorization to work in the United States.

ADDITIONAL PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience with the Koha library systems or other ILS.
  • Experience working with diverse populations.

Additional Information:

COMPENSATION: $20 per hour, 14hours per week when classes are in session.Part-time, non-benefited. Non-unit position.
