Qualifications

• Demonstrated ability to build collaborative relationships, communicate effectively, manage multiple priorities, and work with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
• Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends and travel between College locations and off-campus activities.
• Unrestricted authorization to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and assess a comprehensive program of student engagement initiatives that strengthen student connection, belonging, leadership development, persistence, and success.
• Collaborate with wellness promotion, recreation and fitness, essential needs, to develop an integrated calendar of programs and initiatives.
• Coordinate a year-round calendar of student engagement opportunities (Welcome Week, traditions, cultural programs, etc.).
• Provide leadership, guidance, and support to student clubs and organizations, including policies and fiscal practices.
• Serve as co-advisor to the Student Government Association and support elections, governance, and budgeting processes.
• Develop inclusive leadership opportunities to build skills in leadership, communication, collaboration, and civic engagement.
• Support new student transition and engagement initiatives, including orientation and Welcome Week.
• Develop inclusive engagement strategies to reach a diverse student population across locations.
• Collaborate to develop heritage and cultural celebrations and community-building activities.
• Coordinate opportunities for community service, volunteerism, and civic engagement.
• Recruit, train, supervise, and mentor student employees and leaders.

Job Description:

GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES: The Coordinator of Student Engagement develops, implements, and assesses comprehensive initiatives that foster student connection, belonging, leadership development, and success. The position creates meaningful opportunities for students to become involved in the life of the College, build relationships with peers and the campus community, develop leadership skills, and strengthen their sense of belonging. Responsibilities include leadership for student organizations and clubs, Student Government Association, leadership development, campus traditions, heritage and cultural celebrations, social programming, welcome and transition activities, civic and community engagement, and other co-curricular experiences.

As part of an integrated approach to student wellness and engagement, the position works closely with colleagues responsible for wellness promotion, recreation and fitness, and essential needs to create coordinated opportunities that strengthen student well-being, connection, and belonging. Working collaboratively with students, faculty, staff, and community partners, the position helps create an inclusive and engaging student experience that celebrates the diversity of the College community, strengthens students' sense of belonging, and extends across College locations and instructional sites. Student feedback, participation data, and assessment are used to identify opportunities to increase engagement, reduce barriers to participation, and strengthen the contribution of co-curricular experiences to student persistence and success.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

1. Develop, implement, and assess a comprehensive program of student engagement initiatives that strengthen student connection, belonging, leadership development, persistence, and success.
2. Collaborate closely with staff responsible for wellness promotion, recreation and fitness, essential needs, and other areas within Student Wellness and Engagement to develop and coordinate an integrated calendar of programs, events, and initiatives that promote student connection, well-being, belonging, and engagement while maximizing opportunities for collaboration and reducing duplication.
3. Coordinate, in collaboration with departmental and College partners, a comprehensive year-round calendar of student engagement opportunities, including Welcome Week, campus traditions, social and cultural programs, community-building activities, student recognition, and other co-curricular experiences.
4. Provide leadership, guidance, and support to student clubs and organizations, including in organizational development, event planning, College policies and procedures, fiscal practices, and the development of student leaders.
5. Serve as co-advisor to the Student Government Association and support SGA elections, governance, budget processes, student advocacy, and meaningful student participation in College decision-making.
6. Develop and facilitate inclusive student leadership opportunities that help students build leadership, communication, collaboration, civic engagement, and cross-cultural competencies.
7. Support new student transition and engagement initiatives, including orientation and Welcome Week, in collaboration with Admissions, Advising, Academic Affairs, and other College partners.
8. Develop inclusive engagement strategies designed to reach the College's diverse student population, including students who may be less likely to participate in traditional campus activities or who attend programs at other College locations and instructional sites.
9. Collaborate with campus partners and student organizations to develop heritage and cultural celebrations, educational programs, and community-building activities that promote cultural awareness, celebrate the diversity of the College community, and strengthen students' sense of belonging and connection to the College.
10. Coordinate opportunities for community service, volunteerism, civic engagement, and other experiences that connect students with the College and broader community.
11. Recruit, train, schedule, supervise, and mentor student employees, student leaders, and other assigned personnel supporting engagement programs and activities.
12. Develop and coordinate student engagement communications, including promotional materials, event calendars, newsletters, digital communications, and other outreach efforts designed to increase awareness of and participation in student engagement opportunities.
13. Collaborate with Marketing and Communications and other College partners to develop effective outreach and communication strategies that increase awareness of and participation in student engagement opportunities.
14. Utilize participation data, student feedback, assessment findings, and institutional information to evaluate programs, identify gaps and barriers to participation, establish annual goals, and support continuous improvement.
15. Assist the Director with budget development and management, departmental planning, assessment activities, policy and procedure development, strategic initiatives, and operational projects that advance Student Wellness and Engagement goals.
16. Coordinate, and when necessary provide transportation for students participating in College-sponsored off-campus activities and events, as appropriate.

Requirements:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :

1. Bachelor's degree in Education, Psychology, or a closely related field.
2. Six (6) years of professional experience in student engagement, student activities, student affairs, leadership development, orientation, student organizations, program coordination, community engagement, or a related area. Experience may be gained in higher education, nonprofit organizations, community-based programs, or other relevant settings.
3. Demonstrated experience developing, implementing, and assessing programs, events, or initiatives that promote student engagement, connection, leadership, or belonging.
4. Experience advising, mentoring, or supporting students, student organizations, student leaders, or similar populations.
5. Demonstrated ability to build collaborative relationships, communicate effectively, manage multiple priorities, and works successfully with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
6. Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends and travel between College locations and to off-campus student activities as required.
7. Unrestricted authorization to work in the United States.

ADDITIONAL PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Experience working in a community college, higher education, or enrollment management environment.
2. Knowledge of admissions, financial aid, registration, records, billing, and student support processes.
3. Experience using student information systems, customer relationship management (CRM) platforms, degree planning and student success systems, virtual service technologies, and digital communication tools (e.g., Jenzabar, EAB Navigate360, Element451, Slate, Salesforce, or similar platforms).
4. Bilingual or multilingual proficiency.

Additional Information:

COMPENSATION : Full-time, year-round MCCC Unit Position; Grade 5 (Coordinator of Student Activities) with an anticipated annual salary range of $72,265-$82,472. Actual salary will be consistent with the MCCC/MTA Collective Bargaining Agreement, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Includes participation in a comprehensive employee benefits program including option for membership in the Massachusetts State Employees' Retirement System.
