Job summary

UNC Health Care System is seeking a Medical Assistant I, Certified for outpatient clinics in Raleigh, NC. The role provides routine clinical and administrative support under provider supervision.

Responsibilities include rooming patients, collecting vitals, assisting during procedures, performing phlebotomy, and managing clerical tasks. Certification and BLS are required or strongly preferred, with prior MA experience beneficial.

Qualifications

• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to engage positively with patients and families and to work as a team with staff and providers.
• Ability to use a computer to document required information into the electronic medical record.
• Certification in Medical Assisting or applicable credential required.

Responsibilities

• Room patients and collect vitals, intake data and reason for visit.
• Assist the provider during treatments and procedures; perform phlebotomy.
• Administer medications under provider direction and conduct routine tests as directed.
• Prepare, clean, stock, and sterilize exam rooms and equipment.
• Support registration, scheduling, referrals, and coordinating tests/treatments.
• Answer clinic calls and assist in emergencies as directed.
