Job summary

Fathers & Families Support Center in Missouri is seeking a Career Advisor to build employer relationships, identify qualified candidates, and guide clients into the job market. You will assist with resumes, interview preparation, and ongoing job-search support to help clients achieve placement.

Responsibilities include networking with employers, reviewing and updating Individual Employment Plans, and coordinating job placements while traveling to multiple locations.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree required; Bachelor’s in Social Services strongly preferred.
  • 2–3 years of experience/education in workforce development or related field.
  • Must possess a valid Missouri driver’s license and have a reliable, insured vehicle.

  • Network and establish connections with clients and employers.
  • Meet regularly with clients to review and update their IEP, assess skills, and guide during the job search.
  • Create and edit client resumes; advise on applications, interview process, and career development.
  • Coordinate work orders or job placement requests to match job seekers with work orders.
  • Monitor and ensure that all program graduates secure an initial job placement.
  • Input participants employment information in Apricot system.
  • Work with Social Workers, Case Managers and Facilitators to communicate client barriers to employment; travel to multiple locations.
  • Provide retention data and follow-up services for ongoing employment.
  • Coordinate resources for continuing education and training for career advancement.
  • Work hours 11:30am - 8:30pm; attend meetings and events as requested.

Job Status: Full-Time / Non-Exempt Direct Reports: N/A

Description of this role: The Career Advisor is responsible for: 1) Establishing and maintaining employer relationships for the purposes of obtaining job leads and placements; 2) Identifying qualified candidates for placement; 3) Advising clients preparing for entry into the job market; and 4) Documenting necessary data for tracking and reporting purposes.

Duties, Functions and Responsibilities - includes the following and other related duties may be assigned.

  • Utilizing in-depth knowledge of the job market, provide services to clients focusing on employment opportunities, job search, and career development.
  • Network and establish connections with clients and employers.
  • Meet regularly with clients to review and update their Individual Employment Plan (IEP), assess skills and expertise, and provide support and guidance during the job search process.
  • Create and edit client resumes; advise clients on applications, interview process, and career development.
  • Coordinate work orders or job placement requests to matching job seekers with work orders.
  • Monitor and ensure that all program graduates secure an initial job placement.
  • Maintenance and accurately input participants employment information in Apricot system.
  • Work closely with Social Workers, Case Managers and Facilitators to communicate client barriers to securing or maintaining employment. Travel to multiple locations.
  • Provide information critical to recording retention data and providing follow-up retention services to support continued and stable employment.
  • Work with the Coordinator of Employment Placement/Workforce Development to coordinate resources for continuing education and training that leads to career advancement.
  • WORK HOURS 11:30am - 8:30pm. Must attend all meetings and events as requested.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Must have experience with MS Products; experience with Apricot, Social Solutions, or ETO a plus.
  • Must be able to handle multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines.
  • Must be able to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Must be resilient and tenacious with a high level of personal integrity and passion for FSC’s mission
  • Must understand and practice the NASW code of ethics
  • Must be able to utilize agency and community resources to meet goals
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Educational and Experience Requirements:
  • Must have an associate degree; Bachelor’s degree in Social Services strongly preferred.
