Job summary

Advocate Health’s Aurora facility seeks an Anesthesia Technician to support the Anesthesiology department at St. Luke’s Medical Center.

The role involves operating anesthesia monitors and devices, preparing equipment, and ensuring patient safety during procedures in a fast-paced OR environment. Responsibilities include assisting with catheter insertions, maintaining sterile technique, and coordinating with the anesthesiologist to monitor vital signs and lab values throughout surgeries.

Qualifications

• High School Education completed.
• 1 year of experience in a surgical, medical or related healthcare setting.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 6 months unless not required by department leadership.

Responsibilities

• Operates and calibrates anesthesia-related monitors and machines, ensuring readings are precise.
• Assists in central venous and Swan-Ganz catheter insertions using sterile technique.
• Troubleshoots equipment malfunctions and ensures back-up equipment is ready for use.
• Assists anesthesiologist with intubations and monitors patient blood pressure and oxygen saturation.
