Job summary

Rivian seeks a Vehicle Development Engineer II to own and execute projects across the System Design and Testing layers of the V model for EV product development. You will evaluate prototype vehicles, transform observations into defined problems, and drive investigations to resolve issues.

You will also lead software/hardware testing prior to release, deploy domain software to the internal fleet, and support diverse field testing from hot to cold environments. Travel up to 10% may be required.

Qualifications

• Strong grounding in engineering fundamentals across multiple disciplines.
• Experience with ADAS system architecture and components.
• Ability to read wiring diagrams and schematics; interaction with CAD.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate prototype vehicle functionality on public roads and closed courses.
• Transform high-level observations into defined problem statements and investigations.
• Document defects and advocate for fast containment and resolution.
• Deep dive vehicle-level issues in early-development with unclear system source.
• Execute Mule vehicle commissioning and functional checkouts.
• Execute and document production candidate vehicle software testing before release.
• Deploy leading edge domain software to internal fleet for cross-functional validation.
• Support remote site testing in hot, cold, off-road environments and high altitudes.
• Facilitate knowledge transfer to shop technicians and manufacturing teams.
• Travel up to 10%, occasionally with limited notice.
