Job summary

Rivian Automotive is seeking an emerging to mid-level Vehicle Technician to support EV repairs, inspections, and field service operations. Work under mentorship at a local service center with potential for mobile or remote assignments as needed.

You'll diagnose and fix vehicles, learn EV frameworks, document work thoroughly, and collaborate with teams to ensure safety and quality. Ideal for graduates launching a career in a fast-paced, adventure-driven company.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent preferred.
• Minimum age 21.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean record (past 3–5 years).
• Graduation from automotive repair school/program highly preferred.
• 0–3 years hands-on experience in an automotive shop or technical environment; open to recent graduates.
• Basic exposure to electric vehicle (EV) / hybrid frameworks, or experience working in fast-paced start-up environments is a plus.
• Ability to drive a non-commercial truck and trailer is preferred.
• Availability for a standard 40-hour workweek, including potential shifts on weekends, holidays, early mornings, evenings, or overnights based on business needs.
• Flexibility for travel to regional locations or production facilities as needed.
• Proficient with laptops/computers in Windows or Mac environments, as well as work order management systems.
• Eagerness to learn, strong organizational skills, time management, and high attention to detail.
• Ability to perform physical tasks, including sitting, standing, walking, bending, kneeling, reaching, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
• Foundational understanding of basic electricity theory (high voltage vs. low voltage awareness), basic circuit measurement tools (DVOM), and introductory exposure to reading electrical schematics.
• Familiarity with basic hand and power tools, entry-level tire repairs, and basic vehicle alignments.
• Basic understanding of diagnostic workflows and troubleshooting steps under guidance

Responsibilities

• Vehicle diagnosis, repairs, installations, and inspections at service center, mobile route, or remote location.
• Learn product line, EV framework, tools, and accessories under mentorship.
• Follow repair procedures with safety and quality in mind.
• Conduct road tests to verify repair quality and safety.
• Assist with parts operations, inventory, and work orders.
• Maintain detailed technical notes for repairs.
• Interact professionally with customers, families, and suppliers.
• Identify process improvements and participate in service campaigns.
• Engage in required training and grow technical skills with minimal supervision.
