Job summary

Zero Motorcycles, Inc. is seeking a hands-on technician to refurbish dealer returns and COVs, manage battery health, and support quality engineering. You will decommission bikes, upfit for internal use, and maintain fleet inventory.

The role requires 3+ years in EV-related tech, independent work, and strong documentation skills. Occasional travel and a company vehicle/demo bikes are part of the package.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in a technical role involving electric vehicles, power electronics or mechanical/electrical systems.
• Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and make decisions with limited supervision.
• Experience developing or improving operational processes, especially in inventory, quality inspection or fleet operations.
• Familiarity with electrical diagnostics and battery systems.
• Ability to read and interpret technical docs, schematics, and engineering specifications.
• Strong attention to detail with ability to produce accurate written findings and procedures.
• Effective communicator across engineering, operations, and marketing teams.

Responsibilities

• Receive, evaluate, and refurbish dealer returns and company-owned vehicles to resale-ready condition.
• Prepare and upfit COVs for internal customers, coordinating build requirements with stakeholders.
• Decommission bikes, ensuring safe handling of components and materials.
• Develop and improve processes for monitoring stored bikes and batteries to prevent discharge.
• Oversee battery and vehicle inventory health and perform health checks.
• Manage battery recycling in line with safety guidelines.
• Conduct quality inspections and testing, documenting findings.
• Support engineering investigations with hands-on diagnostics and observations.
• Assemble and program parts for service applications per specs.
• Maintain COV fleet inventory and decommission obsolete units.
• Provide ad hoc technical support for facilities and cross-functional teams.
• Occasional travel may be required to support quality and service activities.
