Job summary

Harbinger Motors is seeking a Chassis Engineer, Suspension in California to lead the mechanical suspension design for our medium-duty EV platform. Architect front and rear axles, develop production-ready components, and ensure durability, safety, and ride quality across heavy-battery applications.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field with 5+ years of experience.
• OR Bachelor's degree with 7+ years of experience.
• 5+ years auto suspension design experience for commercial vehicles.
• 5+ years EV suspension design experience with EV load paths.
• Proficient in CATIA v5 and/or v6 for suspension modeling.
• Experience in forging and casting design for production.
• Willing to travel up to 20% domestically.

Responsibilities

• Define the mechanical suspension architecture for front and rear axles, ensuring seamless integration with electric drivetrains.
• Transition suspension components from concept through to fully manufacturable parts with detailed packaging and refinement.
• Benchmark the medium-duty segment to exceed existing suspension standards for EVs and commercial trucks.
• Translate vehicle-level requirements into granular component specifications and supplier-facing requirements.
• Define and execute the Design Validation Plan (DVP) ensuring safety and functionality with comprehensive reporting.
• Lead automotive suppliers through the Design for Manufacturing (DFM) process, overseeing part delivery and milestones.
• Release complete engineering drawings and maintain a rigorous project issue list to meet milestones.
