Job summary

Waymo, a leader in autonomous driving technology, seeks a Privacy Counsel to manage GDPR, ePrivacy, and BDSG compliance across Germany and the EU. You will partner with Product, Engineering, and AI/ML teams to design privacy-friendly solutions for data and model training.

Your role includes DPIAs, audits, and engagement with DPAs, handling data incidents, and shaping policy with Public Policy and Regulatory Affairs. Fluency in German and English is required.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor and German Volljurist eligibility.
• 7+ years in European privacy, data protection and regulatory compliance.
• Deep GDPR and BDSG expertise with practical implementation.
• Experience engaging with DPAs and regulatory bodies.
• Fluency in German and English with clear risk communication.
• Preferred: privacy certifications (CIPP/E, CIPM, CIPT).

Responsibilities

• Serve as Privacy Counsel for Germany and EU, ensuring GDPR and local laws compliance.
• Advise on Privacy by Design and data minimization for EU market entry.
• Build relationships with EU DPAs, oversee DPIAs, audits, and inquiries.
• Lead rapid legal response to EU data incidents and regulatory risk mitigation.
• Collaborate with Public Policy, Trust & Safety, and Regulatory Affairs on privacy legislation.
