Job summary

A confidential commercial general contractor in Seattle is seeking an Estimator to join its preconstruction team. This established, employee-owned builder maintains a steady pipeline of commercial work.

The right candidate will estimate commercial projects from early budgeting through final bid, read plans and specs, and collaborate with owners, architects, and trade partners. Strong bid coverage and subcontractor relations are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience estimating commercial construction projects.
• Ability to read plans, specs, RFIs and addenda.
• Strong subcontractor relationship and bid coverage skills.
• Proficiency with Bluebeam, BuildingConnected, Procore, Excel, Sage, WinEst, DESTINI or similar platforms.
• Excellent communication, organization and follow-through.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed estimates and conceptual budgets.
• Perform quantity takeoffs and review plans/specs.

I’m working with a confidential commercial general contractor in Seattle that is looking to add an Estimator to its preconstruction team.

This is an opportunity to join an established, employee-owned builder with a strong local presence and a steady pipeline of commercial work.

The right person will have experience estimating commercial construction projects and be comfortable supporting the preconstruction process from early budgeting through final bid.

What the role will involve:

• Preparing detailed estimates and conceptual budgets
• Performing quantity takeoffs and reviewing project plans/specifications
• Soliciting and evaluating subcontractor pricing
• Supporting bid packages, scopes, and leveling sheets
• Working with project teams, owners, architects, and trade partners
• Participating in value engineering and constructability discussions
• Helping transition awarded work from preconstruction to operations

Ideal background:

• Experience with commercial office, healthcare, life science, education, TI, mixed-use, or technical construction projects
• Ability to read plans, specs, RFIs, and addenda
• Strong subcontractor relationship and bid coverage skills
• Proficiency with tools such as Bluebeam, BuildingConnected, Procore, Excel, Sage, WinEst, DESTINI, or similar platforms
• Strong communication, organization, and follow-through
