Job summary

Blue Signal Search is seeking a Project Estimator for a well-established commercial construction client in Fayetteville, AR. You will convert project concepts into detailed budgets and help shape strategy from early planning through documentation.

Collaborate with architects, engineers, owners and suppliers to develop accurate estimates, assess risks, prepare bid packages, and drive value engineering while maintaining constructability and schedule constraints.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience in CM/Engineering.
• 3–7 years of commercial construction estimating experience.
• Experience with hard bid, negotiated, design-build and conceptual estimates.
• Knowledge of construction methods, materials, systems, and sequencing.
• Ability to read drawings, specifications and contract documents.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Detail-oriented with multi-project handling ability.
• Experience collaborating with subcontractors and suppliers; concrete estimates a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed cost estimates for commercial projects from concept through documents.
• Analyze drawings and specs to determine scope, risks, and pricing.
• Perform quantity takeoffs and assemble project budgets.
• Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier pricing for competitive bids.
• Prepare bid packages, estimate summaries, and supporting docs.
• Identify value engineering opportunities to improve value and constructability.
• Collaborate with architects, engineers, owners, subs, and internal teams.
• Assist with budgeting, scheduling coordination, and preconstruction planning.
• Maintain estimating databases, cost histories, and market data.
• Partner with project management to improve estimating accuracy and outcomes.

What You'll Do

• Develop detailed cost estimates for commercial construction projects from early conceptual planning through final construction documents.
• Analyze drawings, specifications, and project documentation to determine scope, identify risks, and prepare accurate pricing.
• Complete quantity takeoffs and assemble detailed project budgets using industry best practices.
• Solicit, evaluate, and compare subcontractor and supplier pricing to ensure complete and competitive proposals.
• Prepare bid packages, estimate summaries, and supporting documentation for client submissions.
• Identify value engineering opportunities that improve project value while maintaining quality and constructability.
• Collaborate with architects, engineers, owners, subcontractors, and internal operations teams throughout the preconstruction process.
• Assist with conceptual budgeting, scheduling coordination, and preconstruction planning activities.
• Maintain estimating databases, cost histories, and market pricing information to support future projects.
• Partner with project management and field leadership to continuously improve estimating accuracy and project outcomes.

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
• Three to seven years of commercial construction estimating experience.
• Demonstrated experience preparing hard bid, negotiated, design-build, and conceptual estimates.
• Strong understanding of commercial construction methods, materials, building systems, and construction sequencing.
• Proven experience performing quantity takeoffs and developing accurate project budgets.
• Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
• Experience working collaboratively with subcontractors, suppliers, consultants, and project teams.
• Experience estimating self-performed concrete work is considered a plus.
