Estimator - Commercial Construction (New England, Remote)

Job summary

DOC, a trusted construction management and general contracting firm, is seeking a highly skilled Estimator in the New England region, ideally Holyoke, MA or Milford, MA, with remote options.

You will prepare accurate cost estimates for commercial buildings and related facilities, review drawings, perform takeoffs, evaluate subcontractor quotes, and contribute to value engineering and bid proposals while staying aligned with market trends and project budgets.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• Minimum 4-5 years of estimating experience in commercial construction, ideally with a general contractor.
• Strong knowledge of commercial construction methods and industry standards for both vertical and horizontal projects.
• Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., Trimble, Bluebeam, HCSS, Onscreen Takeoff, or similar).
• Ability to read and interpret complex construction documents.
• Familiarity with local, state, and federal codes and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Review and interpret project drawings, specifications, and technical documents for commercial building projects.
• Prepare detailed quantity take-offs and cost estimates across all divisions of work.
• Evaluate and incorporate structural, architectural, and site interfaces across trades.
• Solicit and analyze subcontractor and vendor quotes to ensure competitive and complete pricing.
• Collaborate with design teams, project managers, and field personnel to ensure constructability and cost-efficiency.
• Identify and recommend value engineering opportunities and alternative solutions.
• Attend client meetings to discuss estimates, answer questions, and resolve issues regarding pricing and estimates.
