Overview
We are seeking an experienced Construction Estimator to support early phase cost planning and preconstruction efforts on complex construction projects. This role is focused on conceptual, schematic, and design development estimating, with an emphasis on analytical thinking, benchmarking, and collaboration across project teams.
This is a hybrid role with approximately one onsite visit per month in Rhode Island, offering strong flexibility while remaining connected to project stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop conceptual, schematic, and design development estimates across all phases of design
- Perform early phase budgeting and cost modeling using historical data and project specific inputs
- Review, analyze, and compare CM, GC, architect, and third party estimates
- Identify scope gaps, assumptions, and pricing differences across multiple estimates
- Lead and participate in estimate reconciliation discussions to align stakeholders
- Utilize digital tools such as On Screen Takeoff or similar software as needed
- Interpret and review construction drawings and specifications across disciplines
- Perform benchmarking using historical cost data and adjust for project specific conditions
- Collaborate with internal teams, contractors, designers, and external partners
- Prepare clear and well supported estimate documentation using Excel and MS Office
- Manage multiple estimating assignments while meeting deadlines
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of construction estimating experience within a GC or CM environment
- Proven experience with conceptual and design phase estimating
- Ability to evaluate and reconcile multiple competing estimates
- Strong understanding of construction drawings and specifications
- Experience with digital takeoff tools such as On Screen Takeoff, Bluebeam, or similar
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Strong communication skills and ability to engage with internal and external stakeholders
- Solid knowledge of CSA trades including civil, structural, and architectural
- Ability to work independently and prioritize across multiple deadlines
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with MEP systems including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, or process piping
- Background in life sciences, industrial, manufacturing, or complex commercial construction
- Experience with benchmarking and cost modeling methodologies
Work Arrangement
- Hybrid role with primarily remote work
