AEC is seeking an Estimator and Inside Sales Engineer to support Outside Sales Engineers in electrical field testing and power systems engineering. The role focuses on understanding customer needs, designing tailored solutions, and helping create value-driven contracts.

Estimator and inside Sales Engineer – Pasadena

We are seeking a technically skilled Inside Sales Estimator to support and assist our Outside Sales Engineers within the Electrical Field Testing and Power Systems Engineering sector.

In this role, you will leverage your technical expertise to understand customer needs, design tailored solutions and assist with creating contracts that deliver value.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Respond to customers’ bid requests including internal requests from AEC
• Research on-line bid opportunities.
• In coordination with the Outside Sales Engineer, clarify electrical testing scope of work as needed with customer estimators, project managers, and engineers of record
• Analyze and interpret electrical blueprints, specifications, and addendums.
• Obtain pricing from vendors for equipment repairs, parts and AEC engineering department quotes for power system studies
• Prepare computer-based estimates by calculating the complete takeoff of the scope of work
• Participate in bid strategy meetings as requested
• Generate final bid proposal
• Maintain files of working documents
• Generate proposal reports, project bid statuses, and POs received
• Prepare draft proposal for AEC Sales Engineer review
• In coordination with the Sales Engineer, facilitate contract hand-off to AEC Operations Department including job assumptions, special conditions, etc.
• In coordination with the Sales Engineer, assist with follow-ups on submitted proposals.
• Support the Sales Engineer in public relations activities to promote sales, including participation in job walks, presentations, and customer events
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment while collaborating effectively across teams.

QUALIFICATIONS AND JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Minimum of associate’s degree or BS, in electrical engineering, or electrical systems studies, experience in electrical field testing, or electrician certification
• Proven experience in electrical field testing and power systems engineering estimating
• Ability to reliably commute to Pasadena office
• Position will be in office only at the Pasadena campus
• Computer literate, MS365, proficiency with Excel. Familiarity with Salesforce a plus
• Proficient in written and conversational English
• Authorized to work in the US
• Compensation will be a combination of base salary and commission in addition to our generous benefits package.
