Job summary

GH Engage is seeking an experienced Estimator for its NYC Preconstruction team. The role focuses on conceptualizing and interpreting scope for ground-up affordable and multifamily housing with project values from $10M to $100M+.

You will work with the Estimating Manager to deliver accurate estimates through schematic to award. Ideal candidates bring 5–7 years of estimating in a General Contractor environment, strong leadership, and proficiency with Takeoff and estimating software.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5–7 years' estimating experience.
• General Contractor background required — developer-side or subcontractor-only experience not considered.
• Experience estimating ground-up affordable and/or multifamily housing projects in NYC metro market preferred.
• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, or equivalent required.
• Proficiency with estimating programs such as On-Screen Takeoff, PlanSwift, or Bluebeam, and SAGE 300 Estimating.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Excellent leadership and communication skills, critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Perform both conceptual and detailed estimating on civil, architectural and structural portions of projects ranging from $10M to $100M+.
• Work with the Estimating Manager to prepare conceptual estimates.
• Produce quantitative surveys and accurate pricing to support a Lump Sum Price.
• Coordinate project documents across all delivery methods.
• Lead detailed reviews of civil, architectural and structural subcontractor scope prior to contract award.
• Obtain and present unit pricing data.
• Outline clarifications and qualifications within an estimate.
• Provide backup documentation for estimates used during analysis and review.

Job description

We are partnering with an established Queens-based General Contracting and Real Estate Development firm with a long track record delivering ground-up affordable, mixed-income and multifamily housing developments across the five boroughs and greater metro area.

They are currently seeking a full-time Estimator to join their Preconstruction team, responsible for conceptualizing and interpreting scope of work from both schematic and complete detailed documents, and supporting the successful delivery of design-phase services.

This role is ideal for a detail-oriented Estimator from a General Contractor background who is comfortable working across civil, architectural and structural scopes on ground-up housing projects.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Estimating Manager and wider Preconstruction team to produce accurate, well-supported estimates that carry projects from conceptual pricing through to award.
