Job summary

Metric Geo is seeking a seasoned Lead Estimator for its New York City team to own projects from early budgeting through GMP and subcontractor buyout. You will work with clients, architects, engineers, and trade partners to drive accurate estimates and competitive bids.

The role requires 8–15+ years in estimating/preconstruction with NYC contractor experience, and a proven ability to manage complex ground-up and interior projects across sectors such as commercial and residential.

Qualifications

• 8–15+ years of estimating/preconstruction experience in construction.
• Experience with NYC General Contractor or Construction Manager verticals.
• Proven track record on ground-up and complex interior projects.
• Strong knowledge of NYC subcontractor market, costs and procurement.

Responsibilities

The Opportunity

A Top 10 ENR-ranked General Contractor is seeking an experienced Lead Estimator to join its New York City team.

This is a senior-level opportunity with one of the country's leading construction firms, working across a diverse portfolio of ground-up developments and complex interior projects throughout New York City.

The Lead Estimator will take ownership of projects from early conceptual budgeting through final GMP and subcontractor buyout, working closely with clients, architects, engineers, operations teams, and trade partners.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead estimating and preconstruction efforts for ground-up and interior construction projects
• Develop conceptual, schematic, design-development, and detailed construction estimates
• Prepare budgets, GMPs, bid packages, quantity take-offs, and detailed cost plans
• Analyze drawings, specifications, and project documentation to determine scope and pricing
• Lead subcontractor outreach, bid solicitation, scope reviews, and bid leveling
• Partner with operations teams on logistics, phasing, scheduling, procurement, and constructability
• Participate in client presentations, design meetings, and preconstruction strategy sessions

Experience & Qualifications

• 8–15+ years of estimating/preconstruction experience
• Strong experience with a reputable NYC General Contractor or Construction Manager
• Proven track record estimating ground-up and/or complex interior projects
• Experience within commercial, corporate, hospitality, residential, education, or healthcare construction
• Strong understanding of the NYC subcontractor market, construction costs, labor, and procurement environment
• 10–15% annual bonus
