Job summary

Core & Main is seeking an Estimating Manager for the Critical Infrastructure Group to oversee nationwide estimating operations, ensure high quality material takeoffs, and drive standardization across teams. The role partners with regional leaders, sales, and PreBid to support strategic bid pursuits and design-build engagements.

You will supervise estimators from entry to lead levels, develop training, and ensure compliant processes while aligning with organizational standards.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of estimating experience for water/wastewater, industrial, or critical infrastructure projects.
• Experience supervising, coaching, or leading estimating teams.
• Experience with design-build support and value engineering.
• Strong ability to interpret drawings, specs, and bid documents.
• Experience working with contractors, engineering firms, vendors, and sales teams.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily estimating operations across project types and complexity.
• Ensure accurate, consistent takeoffs and manage workload across regional teams.
• Review high-visibility takeoffs for accuracy and completeness.
• Guide design-build methodology, material recommendations, and early-stage input.
• Collaborate with regional estimating, sales and engineering to ensure scope clarity.
• Coach and mentor estimators; support career progression and training.
• Provide data-driven oversight with dashboards and regular performance reporting.
