Job summary

Core & Main, based in St. Louis, is seeking an Estimating Manager for the Critical Infrastructure Group to lead day-to-day estimating operations on nationwide projects.

You will ensure accurate takeoffs, guide design-build strategies, and partner with regional sales and engineering to align estimates with project requirements. The ideal candidate has 8+ years in infrastructure estimating, strong leadership, and a track record of coaching teams.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in estimating for water/wastewater, industrial, or critical infrastructure projects.
• Experience reviewing complex takeoffs.
• Experience supervising estimating teams.
• Experience with design-build support and value engineering.
• Experience working with contractors, engineering firms, vendors, and sales organizations.
• Experience implementing standardized estimating practices or improvements across teams.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily estimating operations across project types and complexities.
• Ensure accurate, consistent, and timely material quantity takeoffs regionally.
• Assign workloads and monitor team capacity.
• Review complex takeoffs for accuracy and completeness.
• Apply quality control processes to validate takeoff accuracy and reduce risk.
• Guide teams on design-build methodologies and material recommendations.
• Support major regional pursuits and collaborate with sales leadership on bid strategies.
• Coordinate with regional estimating, sales and engineering teams for scope clarity and unified practices.
• Coach and mentor Estimating staff and develop career progression paths.
• Provide regular reporting on productivity, accuracy and team performance.
