Job summary

Boston Public Schools seeks an exceptional English as a Second Language and Special Education/Moderate Disabilities Teacher to join our community of teachers, learners and leaders. This long-term substitute position starts 09/08/2026 and ends 04/16/2027, with per diem pay throughout, aligned to district policies and the needs of multilingual learners and students with IEPs.

Reports to: Principal/Head of School.

Qualifications

• Hold a Bachelor’s degree.
• Massachusetts Teaching License in ESL required.
• Massachusetts Teaching License in Moderate Disabilities required.
• Ability to meet the Standards of Effective Teaching as outlined by BPS.
• Authorized to work in the United States by first day of employment.

Responsibilities

• Provide English as a Second Language instruction to multilingual learners.
• Collaborate with content teachers to align instruction with students’ language development and standards.
• Assist with ACCESS administration and ELL student transition planning.
• Deliver lessons aligned to WIDA standards and varying English proficiency levels.
• Support both ESL and Moderate Disabilities goals within the classroom.
