Position Summary

The Division of Access & Community Engagement (DACE) ESL Institute at the Community College of Philadelphia invites applications for part‑time ESL Instructors. The instructor will teach a non‑credit course aligned with the ESL and National Common Core Standards, focusing on listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills.

Essential Responsibilities

• Participate in a collaborative instructional program model, contributing to curriculum, syllabi, and lesson plans.
• Establish clear objectives for lessons, units, and projects and communicate them effectively to students.
• Foster critical thinking and problem‑solving skills through instruction and in‑class interactions.
• Provide students with resources and materials to master course content.
• Integrate technology in instruction, assessment, and course delivery to enhance learning outcomes.
• Instruct in ESL content areas using proven, contextualized, accelerated approaches.
• Document and assess student progress, attendance, and provide ongoing feedback.
• Participate in professional development to improve instructional performance and resources.
• Deliver instruction through various modes to engage diverse learning styles, including computer‑assisted, web‑based, self‑paced, distance, hybrid, small group, and online formats.
• Maintain accurate, timely paperwork.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Education or related field.
• Relevant instructional certification.
• Experience working with low‑proficiency ELLs.
• Knowledge of teaching and learning theory and curricula for life skills, college and career readiness for ESL and adult populations.
• Bilingual or multilingual ability.
• Experience using the Danielson Instructional Framework.
