Job summary

Calvert Research and Management seeks a professional to support shareholder engagement, corporate advocacy and proxy voting. You will conduct research, prepare analyses, support dialogues with portfolio companies and translate activity into materials for investment teams and clients.

The role involves collaboration with ESG research, legal, compliance and investment teams, and requires strong communication, data skills and attention to detail.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Advanced degree, CFA progress or other relevant credential preferred.
• Typically 3–6 years of relevant experience in investment management, ESG research, corporate governance, shareholder engagement, proxy voting, sustainability, investment research, public policy or related fields.
• Strong understanding of responsible investment, stewardship practices, corporate governance and proxy voting; familiarity with asset management or institutional investor practices preferred.
• Excellent research and analytical skills with the ability to synthesize complex information from disclosures, proxy statements, sustainability reports, regulatory materials and datasets.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills to develop clear, concise materials for internal and external audiences.
• High attention to detail and sound judgment, comfortable with sensitive information and deadlines.
• Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize and work in a fast-paced environment.
• Collaborative style and ability to work across investment, research, stewardship, legal, compliance, operations and client-facing teams.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint, and Tableau is required.
• Experience with data tools, automation, Power BI, Power Query, Python or AI-enabled workflows is necessary.

Responsibilities

• Engagement research and execution: analyze ESG trends and prepare materials for company meetings.
• Support engagement programs and maintain records per team procedures.
• Lead or participate in proxy-related stewardship engagements and coordinate with investment teams for alignment.
• Review proxy voting policies and propose revisions to support consistent guidelines.
• Analyze proxy ballot items to inform voting decisions.
• Perform due diligence and quality checks on ballot items and monitor vote cut-offs.
