South Carolina Department of Social Services is seeking an ES Eligibility Specialist to support SNAP, ESAP, SCCAP, and TANF programs in the Economic Services Division. You will conduct interviews, assess eligibility, and process benefits while maintaining confidential case records in the county office.

The role requires a High School Diploma and relevant program experience; an Associate Degree or higher is preferred. Valid driver’s license and field work readiness are expected.

Qualifications

Responsabilités

• Provide services per federal/state laws and agency policies for SNAP, ESAP, SCCAP, and TANF.
• Conduct 7–9 quality interviews daily via phone or in person.
• Process applications and recertifications; determine eligibility and authorize benefits as applicable.
• Maintain case records in the agency system and document client activities promptly.
• Identify and document overpayments; prepare materials for hearings when needed.
• Participate in trainings, meetings, and required supervision; safeguard PII and secure data.
• Perform Red Cross shelter duties or other emergency shelter duties as directed.
• Perform other related duties as required.

Job Duties

• The ES Eligibility Specialist provides services in accordance with federal and state laws and regulations and agency policies and procedures, performing general work duties related to the administration of SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) includes ESAP (Elderly Simplified Application Project) and SCCAP (South Carolina Combined Application Project), and TANF (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families) programs in the Economic Services Division in the county office to help restore or improve customer financial stability.
• Conducts a minimum of 7-9 quality interviews per day to include both phone and/or face-to-face interviews for SNAP, SCCAP, and ESAP applications and SNAP renewals.
• Processes all SNAP, TANF, ESAP, and SCCAP applications and/or recertification's by determining eligibility and authorizing benefits if applicable.
• Maintains case records and files in agency designated computer system for documentation and auditing purposes as required by agency policy in a confidential, timely and accurate manner. Documents client work participation activities in agency designated system. Enters timely documentation in SCOSA of events/activities that may affect clients continued eligibility for benefits.
• Identifies and documents over payments and makes at least three (3) possible claims referrals to the Benefit Integrity Unit; prepares supporting documents for Fair Hearings and attends hearings as directed.
• Participates in all Economic Services required trainings and supervisory and/or staff meetings as required.
• Ensures personal identifying information (PII) is properly used, accessed, gathered, shared, and disposed. Protects the agency networks and applications by safeguarding systems, equipment, and data.
• Performs Red Cross shelter duty or other emergency shelter duty/services as directed.
• Performs other related duties as required.

High School Diploma and relevant program experience in clerical administration, social work, correctional administration, and general business administration.

Associate Degree or higher in relevant program experience in clerical administration, social work, correctional administration, and general business administration.

Must possess a valid driver's license and have access to and be able to operate a motor vehicle. Individuals must comply with necessary field work assignments.
