Job summary

Paycom is seeking a Senior Paralegal – Compliance to support ERISA-governed health plans with governance, documentation, and regulatory filings. You will maintain plan documents, disclosures, and adherence calendars, coordinating with internal teams and outside counsel as needed.

Ideal candidates bring 7+ years in paralegal or compliance roles, strong ERISA knowledge, and proven ability to translate complex requirements into practical policies and SOPs while maintaining audit-ready records.

Qualifications

7+ years of experience in a paralegal, legal operations, employee benefits, ERISA, healthcare, insurance, corporate, or regulatory compliance environment.
Experience supporting health plan administration or related benefits environments, such as self-funded plans, TPAs, stop-loss arrangements, or alternative risk structures.
Strong legal research, drafting, document review, version control, and audit-readiness skills.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to clearly frame issues and escalate risks to senior stakeholders.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and document management platforms such as SharePoint.

Responsibilities

ERISA Compliance & Plan Governance: Serve as a primary paralegal and compliance documentation resource for ERISA-governed health plan matters.
Maintain and support updates to plan documents, Summary Plan Descriptions, amendments, notices, disclosures, adoption materials, and other required compliance documentation.
Maintain regulatory compliance calendar and supporting records for required filings and disclosures (Form 5500, ACA reporting, PCORI, RxDC, COBRA, HIPAA).
Maintain governance documentation including resolutions, delegations of authority, conflicts disclosures, vendor oversight, and fee reviews.
Working Owner Structure & Plan Eligibility: maintain auditable docs for ownership structures, eligibility dates, contributions, notices, and termination history.
Document Control & Audit Readiness: manage versioning, repository structure, and record retention; coordinate audits and information requests.
Legal Research, Policies & Controls: translate regulatory requirements into policies, SOPs, controls, and guidance; collaborate with stakeholders to identify gaps and strengthen compliance.
Risk, Vendor & Participant Oversight: track issues, ownership, remediation actions, and deadlines; monitor TPAs, COBRA admins, PBMs, and other providers.
