Job summary

Veterinary Emergency Group (VEG) in Santa Cruz is seeking a part-time Emergency Credentialed Veterinary Technician. You will join a fast-paced team providing high-quality emergency care, from triage to discharge, including anesthesia, monitoring, and critical care nursing for a diverse caseload of small animals.

The role emphasizes empathetic, patient- and client-centered care, with opportunities for growth, mentorship, and a supportive work environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree in veterinary technology preferred.
• Credentialed as a veterinary technician in-state required; VTS in ECC/med or anesthesia a plus.
• 1+ year in vet technician role; emergency or specialty preferred.
• Basic computer skills and EMR software familiarity.
• Able to stand long hours and lift up to 25 kg (40 kg with assistance).
• Willing to work nights, weekends, holidays on a rotating basis.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care and emotional support from triage to discharge.
• Handle emergencies with doctors and team, delivering gold-standard care.
• Assist with treatments, monitoring, anesthesia, and critical care tasks.
• Use diagnostics and imaging, collect samples, place tubes.
• Perform CPR and assist with advanced procedures when needed.
